Patch Name: PF_CB1X0061 Patch Description: HP 9000 Model B132L, B160, B132L+, B180L firmware 6.1 - added support for up to two fxe graphics cards PF_CB1X0060: - fixes LAN timeout problem when the BCH lan search command is used - the BCH search LAN command now allows the number of retries to be set to specific values. Two different types can be controlled: the number of retries while searching for a server and the number of retries during an IO transfer. These values are set by specifying a LAN IP (all zeros means search for any available server) followed by the search retry number and the IO retry number. Example: sea lan.0.0.0.0.5.100 specifies a search for any available server retrying search packets 5 times and IO packets 100 times. - a "-5 returned by LAN entry init" is now only displayed if a specific "search lan" is used vs a general "search". A message suggesting that a LAN cable may be missing or not connected will be displayed also. PF_CB1X0058: - supports latest version of LAN controller chipset PF_CB1X0056: - No longer check LAN ID prefixes - No longer corrupt TOC vector by calling PDC_SYSTEM_INFO - Swap the restore of cr27 and cr28 after a PDC call - Added PciDelay command to service menu. PF_CB1X0052: - resolves TOC hang with a graphics console - supports PCI Visualize EG graphics card - supports 2GB of main memory - eliminates selftest checksum errors 3000 in AMD EEPROM - send chassis code before reboot - resolves a soft boot error - allow configurable PCI delay for slower PCI cards PF_CB1X0050: - scans for PCI cards usage on old backplanes and halts system if condition is found. HP will replace backplane with newer version that supports PCI cards - improves LAN functionality on AUI - allow fwscsi initiator ID settings for 8-15 - pre-enable 3rd party graphics cards - implements chassis codes to on or off to serial port 1 in the BCH service menu - allow disk dumps to Quantum 32150WD disks - enables support of new Ultra SCSI and 100BT Lan on C200 - enables support of 512MB SIMMS PF_CB1X0025: - added support for 3rd Party Dome graphics card **** ATTENTION ***** - Dome card requires the latest STI ROM upgrade for correct operation - Dome card is NOT supported with any other add-on graphics cards - fixes 2.3 License command date wrap problem PF_CB1X0023: - added memory warning bit for mixing EDO with FPM SIMMs - cycle through monitor types if type is set invalid - added cache/processor incompatibility warning - supports new range of expected LAN ID - improved TLB handling Path Name: /firmware_patches/hp/cpu/PF_CB1X0061 Creation Date: 99/10/15 Post Date: 99/10/26 Repost: 99/11/15 Removed support for C160L. Verify the checksum of the file ".frm" using the "sum" command. Results of the command should be equal to the "sum" value as documented in the header of this document. Step 2. Use the "dd" command to copy the file "CB1X0061.frm" to tape, as follows: dd if=CB1X0061.frm of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k ^^^^^^^^^^^ (device path dependent) NOTE: Blocksize (bs) must be = 2k * * * * * * * IDENTIFY CURRENT VERSION OF FIRMWARE * * * * * * * Prior to performing the firmware update, verify the current version of your firmware, using the following steps: Step 1. Re-boot your system and do the following: A. Interrupt the boot process and from the BOOT ADMIN prompt, type and press [return]. B. Identify your firmware revision. The last 2 digits in the patch name indicate the revision. In this case, 6.0 is the revision. If the revision on your system is equal to or higher than 6.0, do not proceed with the update. * * * * * * * * * * FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE * * * * * * * * * * Step 1: Install the tape you have just created into your tape drive. Step 2. Shutdown your system via the power switch and power back on, or execute the reboot command resetting your system. Step 3. When the display reads "Searching for a system to boot" press [escape]. At the BOOT ADMIN prompt, type and press [enter] or [return] to identify the tape device path. Step 4. Boot from the appropriate boot path. (You must boot from the device that contains the firmware update tape.) NOTE: This process is automatic and requires no interaction until directed to do so. Please do not Interrupt the process. NOTE: The load process will take about 2 minutes. Step 5. A warning message will be issued, followed by "Continue ([y]/n)? Enter and press [enter] or [return] if you wish to continue. Be sure the image on the tape is a newer version than that on your system before proceeding. After several screens go by, you will be informed as to what firmware image is on your system and which image is on the tape. You will be asked if you want to proceed. "Continue ([y]/n)?" If the image on the tape has a higher revision number, Enter and press [enter] or [return] . If no, then enter and press [enter] or [return] . NOTE: FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, THIS PROCESS CANNOT BE INTERRUPTED UNTIL COMPLETION. INTERRUPTING THIS PROCESS WILL CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO BE INOPERATIVE. NOTE: DURING THE EXECUTION OF THIS UPDATE, THE FIRMWARE FONTS FILE WILL BE RE-WRITTEN. IF THESE ARE NEW FONTS, YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY TEXT WRITTEN TO THE SCREEN AFTER THE MESSAGE; 1st rom done!! You will see 2 carriage returns and 2 line feeds and then the display will remain the same. In about 20 seconds the system will automatically re-boot. If it doesn't, the update has failed. Attempt to run the update again from Step 2. If it still fails, or you cannot get to the boot admin prompt, call your HP Service Representative. The system will continue the normal boot process from the default primary path. * * * * * * END OF UPDATE * * * * * *
